Banana Chocolate Upside-down Cake

I am making for Mother’s day and I could to be more excited that I get to try a new recipe I have never done before! This is new to me so It might take a couple tries to get it right but I think it is pretty basic. This recipe is very easy and versatile. I am using chocolate boxed cake mix, we are going to doctor it up to amen it taste 10x better. This has a brown sugar topping that you will pour on the bottom of your cake pan and then place in your bananas. Doing this will make the bananas caramelized and delicious.

Ingredients:

Brown Sugar Base

  • 4 yellow bananas not ripe

  • 10 tbsp unsalted butter melted

  • 1 1/4 packed brown sugar

    Cake

  • your favorite chocolate boxed cake mix

  • substitute the water for brewed coffee

  • substitute oil for melted butter

  • 3 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract

  • 1 finely chopped chocolate bar, NOT CHIPS

    Instructions:

  • Line a 9x13 baking dish with parchment paper, make sure all sides are covered. Set oven to 350 degrees

  • First, cut the bananas in rounds or length wise, what ever seems good to you

  • Next, make the brown sugar base. Whisk the warm melted butter, and the sugar until it forms a paste-like consistancy. Pour this mixture in the pan and spread evenly covering the whole thing. Lay the bananas on top of the brown sugar mixture. (If you cut hth bananas length wise the middle of the banana should be face down)

  • Make the cake batter according to box directions, with noted substitution and add-ins above.

  • Pour over the bananas in a rectangle motion to help spread it as even as possible. Next, take a spatula and soothe it out evenly. Put on oven for 40-45 minutes, until a tooth pick comes out clean.

  • Wait for 10 minutes for it to cool. Lift the edges of the parchment on each side to make sure it is loose. Now take a cooling rack place it on top of the baking dish, hold on to the rack and baking dish with both hands and flip.

  • Ok now you can slowly peel of the parchment paper wait about 30 minutes for it to cool. Cut into 12 pieces and Enjoy!
